Well Being Retreat Center is offering a 4-night mostly silent New Years Retreat led by Don Oakley, author of "It's Time to Wake Up Now: The Top Ten Myths that Can Hijack Spiritual Awakening," a five star rated book on Amazon, and by Patty Bottari, a Director of Well Being Foundation and longtime employee and student of both Adyashanti and Byron Katie.
We can't quite believe that this will be our 10th New Years Retreat, but it's true. It has always been a delightfully quiet and introspective way to bring in the New Year for those of us who have outgrown kazoos. It has always been a time of meeting new friends and perhaps seeing friends from events past. The food has always been amazing and the silence profound.
"This Event will be devoted to exploring deeply into the Nature of our Existence."
The retreat will begin with supper on Friday December 28th and will end after lunch on Tuesday January 1st.
This retreat is a non-denominational opportunity to explore one’s own true nature – free from the everyday distractions and busyness of our lives. The weekend will include silent sittings in the serenity of our meeting room, guided meditations, inquiry, structured sharing and a guided inquiry talks by Don Oakley.. All activities during the retreat are voluntary, of course. However, we ask that you remain fully engaged in the spirit of the retreat for the duration of the event and not simply use the time for a personal vacation.
There is a $60 Housekeeping Fee to register for this event. Also, we ask that you bring and prepare one meal for the group. Depending on the number of people attending, two or three people may be responsible for a supper or a breakfast, for example. (We expect that 30 people may attend.) In this way, you will have an opportunity to experience serving and being served. You will also be asked to help with kitchen clean-up for two or three of the meals – usually a 20 or 30 minute endeavor. You may be surprised to find that these “yogi chores” can create a sense of community and surprisingly deep friendships even during a brief weekend retreat.
There will be an opportunity to make a tax-deductible donation to Well Being Foundation while at the retreat or afterwards which will allow us to further this work of offering this venue for future retreats for yourself and others to explore our deepest nature. Your generosity is always greatly appreciated.
