"When sunlight shines, it helps all vegetation grow. When mindfulness shines, it transforms all mental formations."

--Thich Nhat Hanh

We all seek happiness, yet happiness, like the vanishing mist, eludes us. This retreat helps us to recognize, embrace, and look deeply into habit patterns that interfere with our happiness. We will learn about Buddhist psychology and, in the Plum Village tradition, how to apply these teachings to our practice and daily lives. The retreat is based on Thich Nhat Hanh’s book, Transformation at the Base, Fifty Verses on the Nature of Consciousness, which offers specific methods for transforming our unwholesome habit energies into love, harmony and peace. Indeed, samsara is nirvana, and our daily lives are enlightenment itself.

We will form a community knit by profound silence, shared chanting, singing, seated meditation, indoor and outdoor walking meditation, journaling, art work, and work practice.
