What is this group about?
This is a discussion group based on the concept of non-duality, which simply means not two. We explore the intricacies and ramifications of non-separation, including discussions on the illusory nature of time, space, free will and autonomy. This field of exploration is often referred to as radical non-duality, though the only radical thing about it is its simplicity. This group is available to anyone drawn to these concepts.
Who's this group for?
This group is for those drawn to non-duality and focuses on the core foundation of not two. If you have been on a spiritual path for awhile and are feeling stuck or even disillusioned, this group may be for you. If seeking has become tiresome or futile, you might be ready for a more radical message. If you've been experiencing an underlying sense of, "I'm not there yet," this group may resonate, but it will likely not appeal to those drawn to a progressive path.
What's the purpose of the group?
This group has no goal. There is nothing to gain, though gaining insights may happen. Other possible side effects may include the end of seeking, the falling away of beliefs, the disappearance of a sense of self and the end of time and space as realities. Though nothing needs to happen, it may become obvious that there was never anyone separate, leaving only the unknowable, natural reality. If anything, this group is an invitation to realize that THIS is already what's longed for, even though it's not what you were looking for. The childlike wonder of ordinary life is hiding in plain sight.
Why are you hosting this group?
Expressing this message of unconditional freedom openly, with apparent others who are receptive brings an experience of love and joy. Some friends feel the same way and have been nudging me to start a group like this purely for enjoyment.
What is the group's format?
This will be akin to a sharing circle. The facilitator (Trey) will kick things off with an introduction to non-duality, then we'll go around and give everyone a chance to speak. We can discuss anything and everything, but the facilitator's role will be to compassionately bring the conversation back to the fundamental core: there is no separation.
Who's hosting this group?
Trey Carland, who has a long history of spiritual seeking and wrote two books along the way, never quite felt "done" until uncompromising non-duality came along. That message ended the seeking and the illusion of separation, which he has written about in recent essays (http://www.treycarland.com/blog). Trey really only shares this message if someone asks about it or expresses interest or openness, but when the words do come, love is in the air. His friends have been nudging him to host meetings for the last couple of years and his reluctance seems to have faded to the point where it appears to be happening.
