THE PRICE OF ADMISSION: A PRIVILEGE

Charlotte Joko Beck, in the book Everyday Zen is speaking about earning the integrity and wholeness of our lives every day, by every act we do, every word we say.And she speaks the words:"From the ordinary point of view, the price we must pay is enormous -- though seen clearly, it is no price at all, but a privilege. As our practice grows we comprehend this privilege more and more."*** ***** ***

I really like this, Howard - and though I'd have never thought to put it that way, it really resonates.

There is something about how the inner world shifts, in which the outer looks the same yet feels entirely different... a sense of movement with gratitude rather than obligation.

    Chris,

That word "obligation", has so many conditional strings attached, so far away from unconditional love and gratitude from the heart!

Great contrast to move towards the heart, away from things bound to obligatory, purgatory ...
